Dumb Jokes

The dumbest ones are the best.
I love sarcastic comments.
I'm not being sarcastic when I say that.
To me, sarcastic comments are just another form of dumb humor: humor that doesn't take much thinking to get, but for one reason or another gets me to laugh anyway.
Dumb jokes are seriously, seriously dumb. They're so dumb they're just absolutely amazing. When we discussed what makes us laugh in class, this was the first thing that crossed my mind:
Seriously. This guy managed to make me laugh for a good five minutes. Every now and then, I go back to this guy, and I get a good kick out of it every single time. I know what joke is coming, and yet I laugh every time. I'm not alone in thinking this is funny either. As you can clearly see, the notoriously hard-to-please Simon Cowell is having a pretty good time too.
It's not as though this guy is telling jokes that require extensive knowledge to get. He's not delivering a flaming roast of a politician either. He's just telling simple, (hopefully) original jokes that the whole audience gets. If you don't get any of these, well...
Maybe it's just the pure simplicity and immaturity of the whole thing. Dumb jokes will never blow anyone away with their depth, but it never ceases to amaze me when dumb jokes somehow can send me into a fit of laughter.
Maybe it's just the fact that we never expect something so dumb to be so funny, and that's what makes us laugh. I remember when I was at a student leadership meeting for my church's high school ministry when my pastor decided to compare us to an irrigation system. It wasn't even supposed to be a joke. He was just making an analogy, but for whatever reason we found the picture of an irrigation system to be absolutely hilarious.
My friend put it the best: "Nobody expected to see an irrigation system at a church meeting."
Maybe that's a big reason why dumb jokes are so funny, but there's got to be more to it than that. That's probably why they're so special. You just never know why they're so funny. They just are. And it kind of takes the funny out of them when you try to figure out why.
Which is why I'm going to stop trying to figure out why right now. Truth be told, I'm not overly concerned with why they're funny. As long as I find them funny, I'll listen to any dumb joke at any time.
